Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Acute Care (Medical Surgical) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty Description: Strict 75-mile radius from the address on the traveler's driver's license for eligibility. Experience required: Minimum of 2 years in specialty. Total number of beds: 44. Staffing Level: 40 nurses. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 and may go to 1:6 for both days and nights. Electronic Medical Record system: MEDITECH, experience preferred but not required. Nurse Aides are present on the unit with a typical ratio of 1:8, generally 1:10. Shifts run from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, for a total of 12 hours. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Holidays are required as needed. Scrub color is Caribbean Blue. Telemetry is monitored on a different unit. Floating may occur to all acute care and cardiac units to care for medical or emergency care patients. General orientation is one week, including EMR training. Floor-specific orientation lasts two days.
